Review of Brush Cleaners

Hi Glamifys,

I was on the hunt for a new brush cleaner recently and wanted to share the few I shortlisted.

Just as a background, I currently use shu uemura and I hate it because it’s so expensive( skinny bottle for something close to SGD 40) requires a lot of product and dries up really fast. Therefore, when you spray it on the brush, it dries up even before you get a chance to wipe the dirt on a kitchen towel.

I’ve resorted to using my brushes once and keeping them aside till the weekend where I deep cleanse them with baby shampoo.

So! On to my little hunt. I’ve heard so many raves about inuovi’s brush cleaner.

It’s retailing at SGD 17 I think. However, inuovi doesn’t seem to have many outlets anymore and none that’s near to me. I would like to purchase this if I get a chance. Went to the far east plaza outlet a few weeks back but they were out of stock.

I headed down to sephora at Bugis+. I saw their house brand at $12 for 60ml. Good thing about it is that it comes with a spray pump. It’s small and Handy. However, I tested it and it took a lot of the product to clean a brush. So I passed.

The salesgirl recommended Makeup Forever’s brush cleaner or MAC’s brush cleaner.

Between MUFE and MAC, the quality is similar. Both cleans well and quickly. Both disinfects and come in a big bottle.

Well, it came down to a few things:

1. Size: MUFE: 210ml MAC 235ml
2. Bottle type: MUFE: spray MAC: regular
3. Price: MUFE: SGD 29 MAC: SGD 21

Basically, I prefer spray bottles because it’s easier to spray on the brush and wipe it against paper towels. If you use the regular bottle, you would need to pour the cleaner onto the towel. Wasting a lot of product since the towel absorbs most of the goodness. I have extra empty bottles which you can get practically any where. So it’s not a big issue.

I chose…..

You could purchase at Sephora where their loyalty program is no longer that attractive or you could head down to Raffles City Robinson’s if you have their credit cards.

* FYI. Robinson’s OCBC credit card gives a 5% rebate on your monthly bill*

Hope you found this helpful!

Cheers,
