Review: Bourjois Healthy Balance Powder

Hi Glamifys,

Given that I’m loving e healthy mix foundation serum, I also purchased Bourjois’ powder foundation. Been using e powder together with e foundation to set e makeup in place and I’ve been rocking this look for many days due to its ability to hold up in hot humid weather.

The colour I’m using is beige fonce #55. I find that e powder on its own matches my skin tone perfectly. Blends well with a kabuki brush or any dense powder brush. U might wan to use a denser brush if ur using e powder on its own.

However, if ur using it to set a liquid or cream foundation, u would probably find it better to switch to a less dense powder brush so that e makeup wont look cakey.

What I’ve discovered is that e gel foundation gives e skin a glow from the inside. My skin color actually looks lighter with e foundation ( this is not becuz I chose e wrong color but Bcuz e foundation brightens e complexion n makes it look very natural). So e powder I bought matched my bare skin perfectly but when I used it to set e gel foundation, my complexion became tanned once more.

For eg, my bare skin is a Mac 30. After e gel foundation, it’s probably a Mac 25 (looks extremely natural!!! Cannot emphasize this more haha). Set with powder makes me a Mac 30 again.

So if u wan to stay at Mac 25, please ensure u swatch some gel foundation on ur hand then match the powder for the ideal look. I personally like e powder to turn my skin back to a mac 30. So it’s totally up to u Glamifys!

I was using this old powder by bourjois onli to find out that it has been discontinued. initially i was so bummed out when e saleslady told me that my fav powder no longer exists but after finding e healthy mix powder, I don’t miss e old powder one bit.

Just a note on e most significant difference. E healthy mix seems to be more finely milled. Giving e powder a softer texture and better blend-ability. Healthy mix ( due to e above reason) however, is more brittle so u need to be careful when handling e product. When u swirl ur brush in e healthy mix powder, just be wary that there will be lots of loose powder on the compact. (in case u r wearing dark clothes :p)

healthy mix powder stays matte for a longer period of time. Therefore, u need lesser touch ups throughout the day.

e one thing that might cause irritation to some people is that e healthy powder does not come with a storage space for a sponge. Therefore, u will need to Carry a small brush along with it. Unless u can find a really thin sponge, I’m afraid e brush would take up extra space in ur makeup bag. I personally do not mind it as I have a multi purpose travel brush which I got from sephora. So that brush doubles up as my powder, bronzer n blush brush on e go

By the way, bourjois was having a promo where they gave out a free compact mirror and a travel brush. E brush was so scratchy on the skin. If u didn’t get it, no love lost haha I have no info on this promo as e sales auntie was very vague when I enquired further.

The powder cost $19.50 at Watsons or Robinsons. I managed to get 20% off at Watsons plus 5% rebate from posb Everyday card 🙂

Love love love love love e healthy mix range! I’m intending to see if there’s a concealer in e range too :p

Till next posting,
