Bargain steal: mac smoky eye kit by Julie verhoeven (plum)

Hi Glamifys!

* this post had to take precedence over e gel tutorial as this is limited edition*

Headed over to Robinson city hall yesterday to take a look at e new collections from Mac. One collection consisted of the Cream eyeshadows n the other was this chic canvas collection of eye kits, brush kits n lip kits.

E cream eyeshadow feels exactly like e big bouncy collection. Colour payoff not fantastic vs this seasons’s Chanel eyeshadow pots. About 35$ for e Mac eye pots I think. So I skipped since I didn’t fancy any of it

However, the canvas collection was like crazy! It came with 2 lip kits. If I’m not wrong it consist of lip gloss and lipstick. Might have had a lip liner included too I think.

There was a brush kit as well. Worth e money and I love kits such as those cuz they are shorter in length and easy to travel around with. Those should go for about 100+$ per set.

But e eyeshadow kit! Omg! One was a neutral kit that had graphblack technakohl liner with carbon eyeshadow and 2 nude and taupe shades.

I almost got that one except that I already have carbon n graphblack liner. So I picked e plum series instead

It comes with full instructions if you r not sure how to do a smokey eye.

Also to add, it comes with a fancy huge mirror!! very convenient

Light purple satin shade is creative whim eye shadow.

Middle purply blue metallic finish is drawn to drama (satin finish).

And e darkest almost satin with slight specks of glitter is moody (VXP – Veluxe pearl finish). It’s not dark like carbon though. More like print from Mac but with a little glitter.

Comes with zoom lash mascara, purple dash technakohl liner, 212 special edition push liner brush and 275 special edition slanted blending brush.

Brushes have shorter handles but e bristle length n size are e same as regular size brush.

I love the shadows.
-Easy to blend with very little fall out.
-colour combo is perfect
-skip putting colour on lower lash and adding less moody for day time work appropriate look
-shadows stay on for a long time without primer

Technakohl is a fav! I have gone through so many graphblack for the last few years. the only liner that doesnt trigger my sensitive eyes. The  purple dash is a nice dark plum that goes on easy without tuggin on e skin

The brushes as usual r fantastic. I love e 275 angled blending brush. its an All-in-one brush.

Zoom lash is wonderful! Eyelashes r longer and separated. Added volume without weighing down on e lash. i never took a fancy to mac mascaras but this took me by surprise. i would never have purchase zoom lash on its own and yet i think after im done with this mini tube, i would probably purchase a full sized one.

Here’s y I though it’s a bargain!
– each shadow individually would cost about $30 so that would be $90
– zoom lash is another $20 odd to $30
– technakohl is another $30
– brushes r about 25-35 each. So about $60
so total would have been about $200-$220

Whereas e set was $110 and 5% or 6% for e Robinson or tangs card members respectively. i personally paid $104.50 inclusive of the 5% rebate for robinsons card.

Like hello! Haa thats almost half price.

The onli think u might not like is that you can’t choose e shadows. Plus e cover of e kit is canvas and will dirty easily

But apart from that, I think it’s wonderful. Plus it comes nicely packed in a travel friendly kit with a nice combi of brushes n shadows

If u intend to get it, u will need to get it soon cuz it should sell out quite fast
