Review: Entire collection of 24 hour Revlon Colorstay Makeup liquid foundation for Oily/Combination Skin

Hi Glamifys,

I purchased the 24 hour Revlon Colorstay Makeup liquid foundation for Oily/Combination Skin about 3 weeks ago. This is such a great foundation for those who find that your foundation melts after a few hours of wear.

It retails for SGD 30.90 and is available at most Watsons and Guardian stores. The Singapore stores currently carry 5 shades from light to dark (different shades have a pink or yellow undertone so it is best to swatch the testers).

Sand Beige
Warm Golden
Early Tan

Revlon also carries another range for dry to normal skin just in case you would want to explore that.

Before we get on to the good things about this foundation, the only 1 downside of the product is the packaging. It comes in a heavy glass bottle that does not have a pump. This would mean that you need to estimate and pour out the foundation to the back of your hand or a palette little by little so that you do not waste it.

Here are some pictures of Early Tan

Apart from that… this foundation has made it into my number 1 spot for drugstore foundations.

Although Revlon Colorstay has been around for many years, they recently came out with an improved version that boasts 24 hours wear.

I hate to admit it but yes.. It is really a long lasting foundation that looks better as the hours go by. The improved version also states that there is a time release technology which might be the reason why the foundation initially looks thick when you first apply it. Yet after a few hours, the foundation settles into your skin and gives you the most beautiful finish. Just like a second skin.

Like many of you, being in the heat of Singapore makes my t-zone extra oily. I found that with the Revlon Colorstay, my face is barely shiny. Usually after a few hours, some oil may seep through the foundation to the surface of your skin. Instead of retouching my powder or foundation, I simply use a tissue and blot off the oil. Once the oil is off, all that is left is your pretty face with the foundation still intact.

The other thing I need to point out about this foundation is that it oxides in our hot and humid weather. I previously purchased 340 Early Tan which is a perfect match to my yellow-toned skin. It look great for the first few hours yet as the day went on, my face got a shade too dark for comfort. I loved this foundation so much that I went to purchase a shade lighter 310 Warm Golden. I usually mix the 2 colours so that I get the best of both worlds.

310 on its own is a tad too light when I first apply it. But once it oxidizes, the colour matches my skin tone. So by mixing 340 and 310 together, the first few hours will not be too light or too dark and the last few hours of wear would match my skin tone.

In summary, I love this foundation as coverage is buildable, easy to blend, has a medium to high coverage depending on the number of layers, sets quickly, has a natural matte finish, does not transfer to clothes (especially your partner’s clothes :p ) , stays on all day (be prepared to get a good makeup remover like Biore Aqua Jelly) and controls oil and shine.

Here are swatches from left to right : Sand Beige, Nude, Warm Golden, Early Tan, Toast

Hi there. I really enjoyed reading your review on the Revlon colourstay foundation.
I have a slightly tan skin colour, so i guessed I belonged yellow undertone?
Which shades would best suit me? The warm golden or early tan?

    Thanks in advance. Regards.

Thank you 🙂 curious…do u currently use any foundation? It’s hard to compare without seeing your skin tone hee I found early tan a little too dark for me and I’m medium olive skin. Maybe warm golden will work better as it oxidizes to one shade darker after half hour

    Hai there.

I just wanna ask, if im in the shades nc30 what color suits best for me ya?

    TQ in advance 😊

    • September 30, 2015 at 8:01 pm #

      Hi dear 😉

For nc30, u can try Sand beige since it’s yellow based too. Plus it oxidizes so when u first put it on, it might be a little too light but it will turn a shade darker to your skin tone after half an hour

Help I am a winter person my colour sheme. I start to used Sand beige Beige sable I just wonder what shade little bit darker when I want to used it in the summer.

    • June 1, 2015 at 10:11 am #

      Hi Lisa,

I rather you go for warm golden.

After sand beige, it’s nude. But nude is too neutral an undertone for summer.

Go for warm golden since the undertone is more yellow. If you find that it is too dark for your skin tone, you have the option to mix in you current sand beige and achieve the perfect color for you. Both sand beige and warm golden have the same undertone so you can get a pretty awesome foundation match.

Hi, I have like a light skin tone with redness and my face are usually/ most of the time pretty red, does that means I should take nude? Because I saw some review saying it has yellow undertone 😦

    • February 1, 2015 at 11:58 pm #

      Hi dear,

If U have light skin tone, you could try nude.

Reason being that the yellow undertone would cancel out some of the redness in your skin.

However, I would recommend getting a green face primer from make up for ever or smash box before putting any foundation on 🙂

Green cancels out redness which means that you get more flawless complexion after foundation.

      🙂 hope that helps hee

Yes! My skin is pretty light and burnt really easily under the sun. I just went to purchase nude but really in doubt. As i used to have bobby brown foundation in sand beige but it is tad bit yellow for me.. But for this revlon, ive been searching up and down for review between sand beige and nude and some said sand beige has pink undertone to it too so im kind of confused. I did swatch it at the store but it seems to be there for too long and the color just oxidize so bad on my wrist. Somehow sand beige look darker than nude?

      • February 2, 2015 at 4:10 pm #

Yes! It is true. Sand biege is darker than nude since sand beige is more yellow than nude. I think nude might be a lot better for U 🙂 if sand beige matches ur skin tone when first swatched, skip it. Cuz it will turn 1-2 shades darker after oxidization.

Take nude which would be maybe 1 shade lighter than ur skin and give it 30 mins. It should oxidize nicely to match U 🙂

Hi could you please help me. I recently bought golden beige but have now discovered that it is too dark for me and tends to look very “pinky”. Which shade would you recommend for people with yellow/olive undertones?

Hi, if Sand Beige is a tone lighter than Nude, why does Nude look “fairer” than Sand Beige? Thanks!

    • November 24, 2014 at 11:39 am #

Hi Nurul, sand biege has a more yellow undertone compared to nude which has a pink undertone. As such, pink undertones usually add brightness and radiance to the skin. However, for a more natural look, its best to match your skintone to the corresponding undertone in the foundation

hi, can i check if sand beige is one tone ligther than warm golden? Thanks

    • May 12, 2014 at 4:49 pm #

      Hi Jill,

      The range goes from

      Sand beige (lightest)
      Warm golden
      Early tan

So if you would like one tone lighter than warm golden, you would go for nude.

Just remember that this oxidizes so get a shade lighter than your skin tone.

I really like this foundation but actually I only tried it because of a recommendation from a ps beauty website. They have a foundation finder and that’s why i came across Revlon. I was always a big fan of mac so I didn’t really consider cheaper foundations but I’m really glad I did!

    • June 12, 2013 at 9:15 pm #

      Hi dear,

Great to hear that u finally took a leap of faith. 🙂

Yes, many of us love MAC too and it takes a lot to venture out of ur comfort zone.

If you can get access to BOOTS NO. 7 matte foundation, that is also a good drugstore alternative
