Review/ New Collection : MAC Veluxe Pearlfusion Shadow

Hi Glamifys,

Was so excited to get the news over the weekend that Mac has launched their veluxe pearlfusion shadow collection in singapore!

Yes yes! One of the most awaited collections is now available in singapore at all Mac counters including the one at ion sephora.

The only bummer is that the do not carry the blueluxe palette. :(((((

Anyways….. Each palette cost SGD 72 and comes with 5 colors each.

Just so everyone is aware the quantity per color differs. The 1st & 5th row are the smallest. The 2nd & 4th row are the average size. The 3rd row is the largest.

Also, according to the Mac website the collection is described as;

” Eye Shadow innovation like you’ve never seen before. The pure power of pigment in a creamy, lightweight hybrid, offering distinctive effects – applied wet for a super saturation of colour with metallic brilliance, or dry for sheer coverage with a soft, sparkling finish. Six palettes feature five complementary shades that glide on and blend beautifully for infinite day-to-night looks with matte to pearlescent finish.”

I met up with Cynthia, Mac mua at sephora ion to purchase 3 palettes. I bought the pastel luxe, green luxe & pink luxe.

There are smokey and brown luxe sold there too 🙂

Below are swatches (dry) of pink luxe ( top row), green luxe ( middle row) & pastel luxe ( bottom row)

As you can see the pink luxe is more like a purple palette. The green luxe is a pretty wearable combination for day and night looks. As for the pastel, it is very light and glittery. Great to be used on its own or on top of any shadows for that extra holographic effect.

Each luxe comes in the standard Mac packaging.

Most colors in this collection have either a duo chrome or holographic effect. Some have chunky glitters whereas some are more satin or sheen finish.

The pastel luxe palette reminds me of the cutie pie collection by Mac many many years ago. Pastel pinks, purples and creams can be added on top of any eyeshadow just to give it a pop of bling to the eye.

The green luxe is also a great palette for Asian eyes. Most of our eyes have a tinge of brown and the green palette complements this very well.

What I like most about this palette is that the colors are buildable so you can definitely use this for work or for play.

Holographic Chunky glitter: gold / pink

Holographic Fine glitter: taupe / pink / green

Finally, the fastest selling palette! Pink luxe is almost a purple palette actually. 🙂

It haa gorgeous color payoff, the best so far among the 3. The colors are also very vibrant and can be used to add such an electric feel to your makeup.

Fine glitter: Light cool pink / cream

Fine glitter: Baby pink

Fine glitter: Magenta / electric purple

Sheen chunky glitter: Black base with purple glitter

Satin / sheen: Dark blue / navy / purple

I find that for what it is worth, the palettes are a good buy. Especially when you love holographic shadows. However, given the above quality of the palettes, those who love matte shadows will not be attracted to the veluxe series.

Also, the only palette that showed great difference when applied wet was the pastel. The rest had a difference, of course, but nothing too significant.

I understand that stocks ran out by half within a few hours so fingers crossed if you can get your hands on them 🙂

Have a happy week ahead!
